Ruth speaks about Atma Kriya Yoga - Summer of 2010
"I was looking for a meditation and yoga community in the Southampton area, and on my search I found Sebastian and decided to take the Atma Kriya Yoga course. Although I have been practicing yoga and meditation for some years, what I loved about Sebastian and this course, was the sense that it was tailored to suit my needs. Not only did he introduce me to a variety of meditation and yoga “techniques”, it was delivered with humour, grace and an open heart. I can whole heartedly recommend this course, as I have done to a number of my patients, who, like me are reaping the benefits of increased energy and concentration, and a greater sense of self and well being".
Dr Ruth Lovegrove Jones PhD, Grad Dip Phys, MCSP. - Southampton, U.K.
About the Atma Kriya Yoga techniques
Atma Kryia Yoga is a collection of techniques that will help you return to your real nature, which is uninterrupted love, contentment and peace. Through regular practice, these Kriya Yoga techniques will allow you to access your hidden inner potential. Physical / spiritual energies are cultivated and a sense of love and peace arise spontaneously from within.
If you are new to yoga and want to learn Atma Kriya Yoga, Sebastian suggests that a gradual progression through the techniques is best. If however, you have some previous experience with Yoga or Meditation, then learning the techniques in a weekend is also possible. The techniques are delivered with an initiation at the end of the course called Shaktipat. Shaktipat enables the Kriya Yoga practice to be fully activated within the student.
What are the techniques?
| Pranayama is breathing exercises for concentrating and directing energy in the body. Pranayama practices are energising and cleansing on the physical body, calming and beneficial for the mind and help to attain higher levels of consciousness. The pranayama techniques in Atma Kriya Yoga stimulate dormant energy called Kundalini and this awakens the chakras accelerating your spiritual growth. |
|
| Mantra is the repetition of a series of sounds that relate to a particular energy. Repeating a mantra elevates consciousness, connects one with the universe and helps to calm and concentrate the mind, making meditation much easier. This technique can be practised at anywhere and at any time. |
|
| Meditation balances the mind and emotions and also has physiological and spiritual benefits. Specific meditation practices can make us more centred and develops mental concentration. Meditation positively effects your heart rate, blood pressure and brain waves. It can also lead to greater awareness and refined energy control in the body. |
|
| OM Healing is an ancient group healing technique. It heals all aspects of the physical, mental and spiritual body. It purifies our aura and assists in our spiritual growth. It can also be used as a service to your community, as the local area is positively effected by the group chanting. Southampton have a OM Healing group that meets once a month. |

How does Atma Kriya Yoga work?
The Atma Kriya Yoga techniques purify the energy channels in the body called nadis. Regular practice of the techniques allows for a greater voltage of energy to pass through these nadis, giving you more energy. The yoga techniques purify the physical, mental, energetic and subtle aspects of your body. This purification helps us to prepare for the gentle awakening of Kundalini Shakti (spiritual energy) that occurs through the practice.
The whole system is a gentle yet powerful combination of ancient Yoga techniques that, if practised regularly, can awaken unconditional Love. This is what makes Atma Kriya Yoga so special, no other system focuses on awakening Love. When this Love is awakend we strengthen our relationships with others, we transform negativity into positivity and remain even minded throughout all situations in life.
Be able to Love your partner, children and pets on an unconditional level as your spiritual heart awakens though Atma Kriya Yoga practise.
The origins of Kriya Yoga Meditation.
Kriya Yoga was first brought to the West by Paramahamsa Yogananda in the 1930's but has been practised throughout India for centuries by Yogis. Yogananda's famous book 'Autobiography of a Yogi' allowed Western interest in Kriya Yoga to grow over the last 70 years.
Most Kriya Yoga traditions focus on awakening energy. Atma Kriya Yoga focuses on awakening the energetic potential in the spiritual heart, which is Love. Swami Vishwananda says that Love is the quickest and easiest way to advance on the spiritual path.
About Swami Vishwananda and Atma Kriya Yoga
|
Swami Vishwananda is a spiritual teacher based in Germany. He embraces all religions and cultures. He patiently explains how we can improve the way we think and live through Yoga. He inspires people to be more loving and encourages us to support those in need. He encourages us to love others unconditionally and to support those in need. He tells us to "be ourselves" and to trust in our own intuition for support and guidance in life. Swami Vishwananda was given the Atma Kriya techniques by his Yoga teacher, Mahavatar Babaji. Mahavatar Babaji is a spiritually advanced soul who lives in the Himalayas. Most of the Kriya Yoga around the world has been given by Babaji to spiritual teachers who then passed the techniques on to their students to teach to others. Swami Vishwananda helped to set up the international Atma Kriya Yoga Institute which is now spreading Babaji's Yoga techniques around the world. |
